SKs remember our home reading program that we call Benjamin Bookworm! We have found children highly motivated to read each day, and we know the research tells us that reading at home on top of the literacy experiences at school makes a huge difference in their long term achievement rates. We don't change the books every day, but rereading a book independently the second day is really valuable, especially if you use some of the strategies listed beside this paragraph. This year our reading targets have changed- our school board expects SKs to read a Level D independently by the end of June. With your support at home, we can do it! Here's a gallery below with some pictures of what the home reading program is all about. |
