This week, we really have been enjoying our new routines for exploring letters, sounds, and words. We have assessed what your child already understands about language, and as part of how we practice their next skills, your child is working in a small group once each day to target their specific needs. This is called differentiated instruction, which is a fancy way of saying that each child gets what he or she needs, rather than teaching concepts to the whole class. For our language development, we do a lot of media, oral and written communication in other parts of our day, but language buckets are lots of fun, specific, and meaningful! Each child should be able to tell what they are working on at a particular bucket and why it's important that they be there. Check out the pictures to see what language learning looks like in action, when we are working in small groups.
